Diakosmos Dance

Hello readers!
My name is Alex and I teach open ballet and contemporary classes at Diakosmos Dance Academy.  I have been part of the Diakosmos family since the beginning of 2020 and have met so many beautiful Kindred Spirits along the way. If I haven’t seen you around be sure to say “hi!” When I see you at the Winter Concert next term!
When I first began teaching at Diakosmos I was so excited about the programs and classes on offer. I knew then that Diakosmos was different from other schools- the all embracing culture, the Martha Graham contemporary syllabus and Dianne’s passion and enthusiasm, for the school and its students, were a few things which caught my interest immediately!
Teaching at Diakosmos has been a wonderful opportunity and learning experience for me. I love how at Diakosmos, each student’s individuality is celebrated. We are all unique, we learn in different ways, and we dance for different reasons. I have been evolving my teaching practice in order to better communicate artistic and technical ideas with my students. Through this I hope for students to better understand their connection to dance and movement in a way that makes sense to them.
Dance is a beautiful and respected art form. When we learn to dance at Diakosmos we work hard to hone our specific skills and talents, however I truly believe that dance training inspires learning which can be taken beyond the classroom. Dance inspires a healthy mind and body, healthy relationships with friends and family, and equips us with skills that we will carry with us throughout our lives.
I can’t wait to see you all in the studio in term 3 for another exciting term of dance!
