Dance from the heart!
In 2001, the Diakosmos School of Contemporary Dance was formed, now Diakosmos Dance Academy. The focus of the school is to provide a platform for Dianne to teach children dance. Inspired by her time in New York, as a dancer and performer and in Melbourne as a choreographer and teacher, she has spent the past 30 years developing dance curriculum.
Dianne’s commitment to her own dance training and her extensive and international experience as a dancer, performer and choreographer is unique. Dianne has completed a Bachelor of Education Dance and Drama at Deakin University (Rusden). Dianne has completed a Graduate Diploma in Choreography Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110. Dianne De Battista, Principal
DIAKOSMOS DANCE ACADEMY
Dianne De Battista, trained and performed in New York. She started dancing at age 3 and by the age of 10 she had landed her first paid role in a Musical theatre stage production. Dianne continued training in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. At 16 Dianne discovered Contemporary Dance and was drawn to the movement and qualities the form embraces; it is reflective, emotive, can be uncomfortable and yet beautiful. Dianne’s professional dance background ensures her students develop the impeccable foundation required for professional dance careers.
Dianne has expanded her vision for Diakosmos Dance Academy to include a professional stream and recreational stream and an all abilities dance program. While Contemporary dance tuition remains an important feature at Diakosmos Dance Academy our students have the opportunity to participate in Ballet exams, dance competitions, a musical theatre program, acrobatics and much more. We have grown into a Performing Arts School that offers a diverse range of dance styles and caters to all abilities aged 3 to adults.
