CONTEMPORARY DANCE

In this technique, students learn to:

 

  • Initiate movement from their torso

  • Respond expressively within a structured framework.

 

Diakosmos Dance Academy provides Contemporary Dance Extension Programs for students who want to focus on contemporary dance.

 

Who is the class for?

Our contemporary classes are specifically designed for:

  • Children of all abilities from preschool to VCE

  • Students who want to extend themselves in contemporary dance may specialise in contemporary dance training program. Students are invited to participate in additional classes.

  • Those who want to participate in dance competitions- individual or troupe sections.

  • Like to try something new

  • Students who enjoy performing

  • Both male and female students.

Diakosmos Dance Academy is located at 4 Newcastle Street, Thornbury, Melbourne, VIC 3071.
 

We are near public transport; Bus – Victoria Road, Thornbury-only a short walk. Thornbury Train Station and High Street Trams – only a 20 minute walk to the studio.

Contemporary Dance at Diakosmos Dance Academy is based on the Martha Graham technique.

 

The Principal Dianne De Battista has developed a curriculum in her Thornbury Dance Studio to train dancers in a formalised expressive dance technique that has its own structure and form.
