This class will be based on the Russian Vaganova method of character dance, however students will be learning different styles from around the world, such as the national dances of Hungary, Russia, Poland, Italy, China and Spain.
Traditional examples of character dances are the Tarantella, Mazurka and Flamenco.
In this technique students will:

Study folk dances from around the world.

Diakosmos Dance Academy located in Thornbury is now offering Character Dance classes. Character dance is a stylized representation of traditional folk dances within a ballet framework. It is taught to students beginning with the basic skills of coordination, rhythm and style.
